Lieutenant General Larry James
assumed command of the Joint Functional Component Command for Space and 14th Air Force. James assumed command from Lieutenant General Willie Shelton upon his selection for reassignment to the Pentagon where he will serve as chief of Warfighting Integration, and chief information officer of the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force in Washington, D.C.

Greg Masciana has been appointed the director of quality for Crane Aerospace and Electronics. In this role Masciana will have overall responsibility for the Quality Management System at each of the Electronics Group sites.


Major General Abraham J. Turner, deputy chief of staff, G-3/5/7, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Monroe, Va., has been assigned as chief of staff, U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb.


Major General James W. Rafferty, U.S. Army Reserve, commander (troop program unit), 89th Regional Readiness Command, Wichita, Kan., has been assigned as special assistant to the commander, U.S. North American Aerospace Defense Command/U.S. Northern Command for reserve matters, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.


Secretary of the Air Force Michael B. Donley selected Brigadier General James M. Kowalski as the provisional commander, Air Force Global Strike Command.


SGIS has appointed Jerry Ehleiter, an Army veteran and seasoned executive, as vice president, business operations of SGIS.


Integral Systems Inc. announced the promotion of John Monahan to president of RT Logic, a subsidiary of Integral Systems Inc. In this role, he will have executive management responsibility for RT Logic operations and its 150 employees.


The first Space Operations Officer (Functional Area 40) groomed and selected from the career field was promoted to the ranks of general officer. Army Colonel Kurt S. Story, deputy commander for operations, SMDC/ARSTRAT, was promoted to the rank of brigadier general.


Lieutenant Colonel Gregory Bowen has been selected as the next commander of the 100th Missile Defense Brigade (Ground-Based Midcourse Defense)—the nation’s only missile defense brigade—and is due to replace the current commander, Colonel Michael Yowell, May 15, 2009.


An Army Command Selection Board named a former company commander within the 1st Space Battalion as the battalion’s next commander. Lieutenant Colonel J. Dave Price, currently the Joint Senior Space Duty Officer and Chief of Special Technical Operations, J39 Division, Joint Functional Component Command-Space, will replace the current Battalion Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Tom James, some time next summer.


Northrop Grumman announced that its Integrated Systems and Space Technology sectors are combined to form the new Aerospace Systems sector and will be led by Gary W. Ervin.


Brigadier General Jay G. Santee, vice commander, 14th Air Force, Air Forces Strategic, Air Force Space Command, has been assigned to principal director, Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Strategic Capabilities); Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Special Operations/Low-Intensity Conflict and Interdependent Capabilities); Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Pentagon.


Andrew Ramsden, products manager, Simulation and Training Solutions at Rockwell Collins, received the 2008 Edwin A. Link Award for excellence in the visual simulation industry. The award was presented at the Flight Simulator Engineering Maintenance Conference held in Salt Lake City, Utah.


Scott White has been named vice president, business development for Rockwell Collins Government Systems. White is responsible for leading the enterprise-wide marketing and sales organizations, which includes overseeing all Government Systems’ business pursuits for Rockwell Collins. ♦
