Welcome to issue one of Military Space & Missile Forum. KMI Media Group is publishing this initial issue at an exciting time in the space and missile community. The U.S. Missile Defense Agency is achieving a string of successes to develop and field an integrated, layered, ballistic missile defense system—with the prospects of many more accomplishments in the near future. On the battlefield, the increased use of UAV-launched missiles during missions in Iraq and Afghanistan has dramatically redefined the tactical environment. Elsewhere in the community, innovation is alive and well in government, industry and academic labs that are refining the next-generation technology for space and missile systems.

MSMF will provide in-depth coverage of community-wide developments as we focus on the Missile Defense Agency, strategic space launch, vehicles, space-based radars, theater and air-to-ground missiles, and the host of support systems. Our editorial program will deliver insights from senior warfighters and their counterparts in other government agencies and industry who manage, maintain and defend the space frontier, and from Capitol Hill. While MSMF’s primary editorial focus remains on developments in the U.S, we will seek opportunities to provide insights on significant community developments overseas.

To help MSMF remain the standout publication of the space and missile communities, I will always look forward to receiving your questions and comments, and visiting with you at major community tradeshows and conferences. We are launching the Military Space & Missile Forum at the 2008 Space and Missile Defense Conference in Huntsville. As part of our launch, I am letting everyone know about our “meet the editor” opportunity, both at the SMDC event as well as at the Air Force Technology exposition in Washington, September 15-17. Whether a space/missile-related service office or a defense supplier, if you would like to sit down and talk about your products and services and learn more about MSMF, please drop me an e-mail and we can setup an appointment. We look forward to seeing you there.
