Brigadier General Leo A. Brooks Jr. (Ret.) has been named vice president, National Security and Space, Boeing. He moves from the company’s Integrated Defense Systems business unit, where he had been vice president, Business Development, Army Systems.

Space Exploration Technologies Corp. announced Rob Peckham has joined the company as vice president, Business Development. In this role, Peckham’s primary responsibilities include the development and expansion of SpaceX’s customer base across its family of launch vehicles and Dragon spacecraft, as well as leading the sales, marketing and mission management teams.


Crane Aerospace & Electronics, a segment of Crane Co., announced the appointment of Charles “Bud” Jewett as Business Development director for the Electronics Group. Jewett will be responsible for strategic business relationships, partnerships and new business development. He will be based in Annapolis, Md.


The Air Force Research Laboratory Air Vehicles Directorate presented its directorate’s top two awards, the Courtland D. Perkins in-house engineering award and the Benjamin D. Foulois award for significant contributions to aerospace technology. The Courtland D. Perkins award was presented to Matthew Duquette for his development of a simulation framework that facilitated the development, demonstration and analysis of cooperative control systems for unmanned aerial vehicles.


The Benjamin D. Foulois award was presented to the team of Dr. Jose Camberos and Dr. David Moorhouse for their development of energy-based methods for systems integration, analysis and design of aerospace vehicles. Boeing named Greg Hyslop as the vice president and general manager of the company’s Missile Defense Systems division. Hyslop succeeds Scott Fancher, who assumed responsibility for Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ 787 Dreamliner program in December 2008. In his new role Hyslop reports to Roger Krone, president of Network and Space Systems, a business unit of Boeing Integrated Defense Systems.


The Aerospace Corp. announced five personnel assignments. Patrick Cheatham is a principal director for sensors, signals and electronics subdivision of the electronics and sensors division at the Chantilly, Va., office. Andre Montoya is a principal director for special programs within the planning and communications division of the national systems group, Chantilly office. Theodore Muelhaupt is an associate principal director in the Chantilly office responsible for the day-to-day operations of the system analysis and simulation subdivision in the systems engineering division. Michael Fortenbary is principal director of Huntsville operations in the company’s missile defense division. Graham Arnold is a principal director of the test and mission assurance organization in the missile defense division, Huntsville. ♦
